A prominent male chest is one of the beauty ideals of many men. The situation is different when a man develops a more feminine-looking breast shape, a so-called "man boob". This benign change of the male breast is called gynecomastia. The breast enlargement is caused by an increase in mammary gland tissue or by fat storage. Usually both breasts are affected, rarely only one side.
This change in the breast is often perceived as disturbing by those affected. A well-shaped male breast, on the other hand, can have a positive effect on self-image and charisma and bring about a new body image.
